Day 2, BREISACH. Breisach is your gateway to several different excursions, depending on your interests. Step back in time with a visit to the enchanting Alsatian town of Riquewihr, which looks almost the same as it did in the 16th century. On your walking tour, admire historic architecture as well as famous sights, such as the Dolder Gate. Alternatively, you may wish to go to Freiburg, founded in 1120 and home to the Freiburg’s Münster, a Gothic cathedral said to have “the most beautiful spire on earth.” Those wishing a more active excursion can cycle through the scenic countryside, or go on a hike to the Black Forest, a magical land full of cultural traditions. (B,L,D)

*Please Note: Black forest hike is weather dependent and may only operate at certain times of the year. Please refer to your final documents for details.

Day 3, STRASBOURG. Strasbourg, the capital city of Alsace, offers flavors of both France and Germany because of its borderline location. Enjoy a panoramic tour past the stunning Parc de l’Orangerie, the European Parliament, and the Place de la République. Then walk through its iconic UNESCO World Heritage “La Petite France” district, which appears to have been lifted straight from the pages of a fairytale. Wander through these charming streets and past the Cathédrale de Nôtre Dame with its famous astronomical clock. For the active adventurer, you can take a guided bike ride through this captivating city and Parc de l’Orangerie. (B,L,D)

Day 4, LUDWIGSHAFEN RÜDESHEIM. Ludwigshafen is your gateway to a choice of three excursions. Visit Heidelberg, the perfectly preserved medieval city nestled in the Neckar River Valley along Germany’s Castle Road. Discover the iconic red sandstone Heidelberg Castle and Great Vat, an 18thcentury 49,000gallon wine cask. For a more active adventure while in Heidelberg, join a guided hike up the Philosopher's Path, aptly named during the Romantic Period, and be rewarded with panoramic views of the city. Or ride along the river Neckar to the medieval town of Ladenburg where you’ll have some free time to explore the shops and quaint Marktplatz. Alternatively, you can visit one of Germany’s oldest cities, Speyer, known for the largest Romanesque cathedral in Europe—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and the medieval Altpörtel, Old Gate. Later in the day, sail to Rüdesheim where you can visit Siegfried’s Mechanical Musical Instrument Museum or taste one of the town’s special delights, Rüdesheimer Coffee, ceremoniously made with brandy. (B,L,D)

Day 5, RÜDESHEIM RHINE GORGE LAHNSTEIN. Your exploration of Rüdesheim continues with your choice of three excursions. Take a gondola ride to the Niederwalddenkmal Statue, where you can enjoy panoramic views of the river. Afterward, indulge your taste buds with a sampling of Riesling wines in the vineyards. If you prefer a more active adventure, hike through Rüdesheim’s vineyards, taking in views of the town, the Roman Bridge, and Bromersburg Castle. Or join a guided bike ride through the town and along the Rhine River. During the afternoon, set sail along the scenic Rhine River Gorge with its fabled legends and many castles to Lahnstein where you’ll enjoy a visit to Lahneck Castle. (B,L,D)

Day 6, COLOGNE. Home to one of Germany’s most revered Gothic masterpieces, the Cologne Cathedral, this 2,000yearold city is also a bustling cosmopolitan hotspot. Join a guided tour through the enchanting Old Town and explore the UNESCOdesignated cathedral, where the remains of the fabled Three Kings—the Magi— are believed to rest. Alternatively, ride a bike along the Rhine and through the historic Stadtgarten; or visit a local tavern to taste Kölsch beer and reibekuchen mit apfelmus—potato pancakes served with applesauce. (B,L,D)

Day 7, AMSTERDAM. Amsterdam boasts amazing history, art, architecture, and museums, and you have a choice as to how you wish to explore it. The famous canals of Amsterdam await discovery on your city tour beginning with a scenic canal cruise. Or opt for a rare experience with a journey into the Netherland’s Floriade Expo** in Almere – very close to Amsterdam – which will feature stunning gardens, innovative sustainable gardening exhibits, live entertainment, souvenirs, and food stalls. If you prefer exploring the world with your taste buds, stroll past traditional canals, gabled houses, narrow bridges, and houseboats to taste Dutch specialties at a grand Amsterdam café. (B,L,D)

Day 8, AMSTERDAM. Bid Farewell to Amsterdam and prepare for your homeward flight or post-cruise add-on hotel nights. (B)

THE GOLF COURSES OFFERED ON THIS CRUISE (not necessarily in order of play).

HILVERSUMSCHE GOLF CLUB

Championship Course, Hilversum, Netherlands. The host of the KLM Open this club is one of the most exclusive in the Netherlands and celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010. In recent years, the course, located in the Kievitsdal, has been renovated by architect Kyle Philips, with the original landscape and aspects of the former architect Harry S. Colt being retained wherever possible.

In 2010, all renovations were completed for the Hilversumsche Golf Club to host the KLM Dutch Open for the 25th time. Ranked 49th in Europe, the heathland course of the Hilversumsche last hosted the Dutch Open from 2010 - 2012 with Martin Kaymer, Simon Dyson, and Peter Hanson each triumphant over the beautiful Phillips and Colt designs.

GOLF SOCIETEE LAGE VUURSCHE

Championship Course, Den Dolder, Netherlands. Kyle Phillips Design. The Golfsociëteit De Lage Vuursche layout was fashioned by Kyle Phillips and it opened for play in the year 2000.

This was an ambitious restoration project which aimed to revert flat farmland back to its former glory of rolling terrain flanked by woodland. The result is that Lage Vuursche has found its level as one of Holland’s premier courses that stretches out beyond 6,900 yards from the tips.

Serpentine shaped canals and a number of lakes come into play on twelve holes with adroit and sometimes raised bunkering waiting to catch the errant shot. The large greens should be easy to find but it takes courage to block so many prominent hazards from your mind. Newly planted trees naturally require time to mature but already they are adding to the challenge and the appeal of Lage Vuursche.

MAINZER GOLF CLUB

Championship Course, Budenheim, Germany. This hidden masterpiece is quickly climbing up the rankings of rated golf courses in Germany, to our dismay as we liked the fact that it was a secret. The course is massively underrated and a design genius. Effectively 2 loops of 9, called Canyon and Panorama. The front 9, Canyon offers 9 brilliantly designed holes on the site of a former quarry, while the back 9 Panorama offers beautiful views of the Rheingau wine region. Exemplary service and maintenance round up an extremely pleasurable round of golf.

GOLF CLUB LE KEMPFERHOF

Championship Course, Plobsheim, France. Ranked 49th in continental Europe, this 1990 Robert von Hagge design is one of the most beautiful courses in the Alsace region. Situated in a beautiful 85 Hectare park, the 19th-century former hunting lodge doubles as the Golf Club. Plenty of water and bold bunkering typify this very challenging golf course. Situated just a few miles south of the capital city of Europe, Strasbourg, the course is the perfect complement to the region.

CLUB GOLF BASEL

Championship Course, Folgensbourg, France. Measuring 6,800 meters from its longest tees, this 18-hole par 72 championship course shows its tournament class. Thanks to 5 strongly staggered tee boxes, the course also offers recreational golfers the chance to enjoy a relaxed round from the front tees.

Every hole has its own unmistakable character and associated strategy. The large, decisive water hazards and bunkers guarantee an exciting round of golf in the former fruit garden of the Cistercian monks who built the monastery in the 12th century.

GOLF AHOY EXCLUSIVE

GOLF CLUB COLOGNE - Links Course, Cologne, Germany.

An exclusive inclusion only for Golf Ahoy guests. The Köln Golf Club is a mere 8000 meters from the river as the crow flies and boasts 3 golf courses, The Championship Course, the Links short course, and a par 3 course. Our exclusive Golf Ahoy outing will head to the 18 hole links course. It's only a par 63, but its mixture of holes will challenge you to play well to beat your handicap. undulating greens and fairways give this wonderful course its links feeling and are perfect for our short stay in Cologne. Designed by Germany’s Heinz Fehring, the club is already ranked 22nd in Germany and offers players of all abilities to test their skills.
